Firmly ensconced in a career in graphics design, I decided, on a bit of a whim, to begin to study photography. From that moment on, my relationship with my camera and this new medium engaged, captivated and consumed me. Through the camera lens, I discovered a level of perception hitherto unknown to me—a way of seeing that was more alive, alert and complete. Looking at the underlying form, shape, and colour in the things around me, stripping away distracting detail, and seeking the play of light and shadow that can make the ordinary extraordinary, I began a journey of image making, striving to capture a sense of order, balance and harmony in whatever caught my eye.

Key within this has been an exploration of beauty as it is found in natural things—an inherent and quiet beauty we so often miss as we rush about in our busy lives.

The photographs that have materialized reflect my own joy in image making as well as my increased sense of admiration for nature. I hope that, in presenting these things as I do, others might also recognize and share in the simple solace and beauty of the natural world.
